‘BB-MPOSTOR..?’

"Impostor Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. does not exist as a legal person because the legal owner of his full name including his nickname 'Bongbong' and initials 'BBM' has been deceased since 1975," pahayag sa petisyon ni Tiburcio sa Commission on Elections (COMELEC) noong Nobyembre 3, mula sa kopyang nakalap ng Rappler. For Tiburcio, the principal petition raised was identity, something to the effect that BBM is not BBM, it’s not the real guy.” Kung tutuusin, noon pang M...

Image
By Daniela Lorraine Brutas PHOTO: Sen. Bong Go After expressing his doubts and worries in entering the presidential race earlier this week, Senator Christopher "Bong" Go said maybe it is not time yet to push through with his presidency. Although Go has yet to formally declare that he has withdrawn his bid after admitting that it might not be his time to run for president, he said he would leave his fate to God. On November 13, the senator withdrew his bid for the vice presidency under the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) and filed his candidacy for president under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan...

Vaccine on the Horizon: Vaccine for Alzheimer’s Shows Promising Results in Trials

Image
By Cid Campos PHOTO: ABC7 After years of work, scientists have created a potential vaccine for Alzheimer’s disease which has shown hopeful results in animals with features of the disease, and are now moving onto human trials. While most vaccines work by preventing the disease before it’s contracted, this vaccine can not only prevent someone from developing Alzheimer’s but also treat it. Alzheimer’s Disease is the 9th leading cause of death, killing 814,000 in 2019 and is also the most common cause of dementia causing difficulty with memory, behavioral changes and difficulty problem solving. “While the science is currently still at an early stage, if these results were to be replicated in human clinical trials, then it could be transformative,” according to professor Mark Carr about the tests on the vaccine. The vaccine works by training the immune system to create specific antibodies in order to destroy the hairpin-like proteins present in people with Alzheimer’s, which is what disrupt...

Image
By Rjay Zuriaga Castor PHOTO: Pinterest An Iloilo-based psychic claims that the country's next president who will win in the 2022 elections is a woman while the next vice president is a man.   Interviewed in the Iloilo Metropolitan Times (IMT) Conversations — a new weekly online program launched by IMT News, Madam Krystala bared that the next Philippine president is a woman and the country’s second-highest official will be a man.  "Based on your vision, will the next president and vice president of the Philippines be a man or a woman?" asked in Hiligaynon by the program host and head of IMT News Rhod Tecson.  "Since that is a direct question, I will also answer it straight to the point. It is a woman. The next vice president is a woman," said the local psychic who first refused to answer the question, citing reasons of bashing. "I will pray for that. I go for Leni (Robredo)," said Tecson endorsing his support to Vice President Leni Robredo.  Vice Presi...

Drug war not anti-poor despite Duterte’s mum lips, says Palace

Image
By Arjane Faith Paala PHOTO: News Week Counterattacking critics, Cabinet secretary and acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles claimed Friday that the President’s war on drugs is not anti-poor despite his refusal to disclose the cocaine-using presidential aspirant. President Rodrigo Duterte’s silence strengthened allegations that his drug campaign targets the poor only, which Nograles strongly opposed saying he has already named politicians involved in illegal drug trade before. He argued, “In one of my reports to the president sa mga talk to the people niya, binanggit ang name doon ng lahat ng mga high value targets na nakasuhan na, nahuli na at being prosecuted.” According to him, revealing the candidate who uses cocaine is up to Duterte’s ‘wise and sound judgment’ after he has already given descriptive clues. “Let’s just wait for the president. Hintayin po natin kung kailan nya pangalanan if ever papangalanan ba nyia. Nasa discretion ‘yan ng ating Pangulo,” the spokesman sai...

Meanwhile, the use of face shields is still compulsory in areas under Alert Level 5 and granular lockdowns. Duterte, hindi suportado Marcos, Pacquiao; Go lamang ang isinusulong

Image
“I’m just asking for a few more hours at masasabi ko na kung ano ang talagang totoo.

COLUMN | Enough is enough. We can’t let these monsters govern us again

Image
By Axcel Beltran Cartoon by Aureus Ken Pupa The battle lines are now drawn clearly. In the upcoming 2022 elections, President Rodrigo Duterte, who is under international probe due to alleged crimes against humanity, will run as a senator. His daughter, Sara Duterte-Carpio will be the running mate of the presidential aspirant and the late dictator’s son Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. Alongside them are the bigots, trapos, and flawed candidates who want to tighten their grasp for power. Despite this what seems to be a political circus, one thing is certain: we cannot let these monsters govern us again.  Days before the deadline of substitutions and withdrawal of certificates of candidacy, Duterte-Carpio, who first expressed her disinterest for a national position, withdrew her reelection bid as Davao City Mayor to substitute Lakas CMD then-vice presidential bet Lyle Uy. In 2016, President Duterte also utilized this substitution mechanism to create a clamor for his presidential c...
